A big Order! |
At May of this year (1998) our small WebDesign-Company had to do some small hosting for a big company. Because we were very cheap, they come to us with the question if we can also plan and design Intranets.
We said "yes" and the big Adventrure began:
Planning during a Latin lession
In class we had some very boring presentations, so every did something other than participating at the instruction... I began to desing a plan fot the Intranet on a littel sheet of paper.After 45 Minutes, wehn I and the lession finished, the plan seemed to be not bad...
Conference
Yes. Or plan was good. They gav us the order to begin immediately with developing. We promiised them many features like a document management, a news management and a clear structure. Everything was ok, but there was one problem: The developement sould be finished in only one week!A short time for someone that has not even read the documentation for the desired technique (ASP; an extension for the IIS).
Learning and developping
As soon as I was at home after the conference, I began to read the Documentation for the ASP while I was beginning to think of the convcept of the implementation of the features: Which database, which layout,....The documentation was not bad. I got optimistic.
The following week was hard: Get up at 6 o-clock. School at 7.30am to 15.40pm. The going home to begin writing at teh dammed programs. Finally at 2am, I went to bed.
I had success.
I programmed and debugged nearly the whole night before the installation: At 4am I went to bed to sleep. After two hours I had to get up. I was not tired: The big day had come..: Friday, July, the 3 1998!
Installation
Everything worked like expected. Now we are waiting for some comments of our big customers.To be continued...
